Update on Bundaleer True Blue in Tasmania

Rob Wilson (Wiltshire Murray Grey Stud, Tasmania) has recently updated us that  Bundaleer True has settled in well to his new home is Tasmania. Rob mentioned '...he looks a treat, he is massive and really stacked on the condition when the feed was put in front of him...' We trust both Murfield and Wiltshire will have some superb calves on the ground in the latter part of 2011.

This comes on the back of Bundaleer True Blue being exchanged for Murfield Apache in early 2010. Both…

let's get net smart, loud and proud...

I've just spent the last 2 days in a web and social media marketing course for credit unions.

Apart from picking up some amazing knowledge on the power of the internet and Google (which we all know is the future) what struck me personally is that Murray Greys are like credit unions and Angus is the big banks

.

Those that have Murray Greys/or members of Credit unions are really happy with their experiences, many with the big banks are a bit dissatisfied but they don't hear a lot…

Beef Producer of the Year

Congratulations to the Bryce Family who operates the Freestone Group near Warwick QLD on being awarded Beef Producer of the Year at todays Red Meat Awards conducted at EKKA.

Sam Bryce is reported as having a soft spot for Murray Grey cattle whilst catching up with Murray Grey producers at BEEF 2009 last year. His only complaint was availability issues.

Open Day Report - Cadfor Murray Greys

The forecast said rain but our Open Day, Sunday 1st August, started fine and sunny, helping to dry out muddy yards. The first visitor arrived at 9.15 and the second not long after. We took the opportunity to take some photos because the clouds looked ominous. The third visitor made up his mind quickly and we had one bull sold. He is a commercial breeder who is now looking for… Continue

Last Week - Young Abattoir, This Week - Pittsworth and Killarney!

Last week whilst in NSW, my attention was drawn briefly to the news that the Young abattoir had gone into receivership. Whilst reading that article I see that Dubbo lost a number of employees only weeks prior. So I can only assume they are struggling.

Well it is close to home this time around, Pittsworth and…

2010 and away

Since writing the Christmas message blog we have been very fortunate to have received rain of some sort every single day. We have broadcast pasture seed throughout and already seeing germination. It is hard to believe that only two weeks ago the home block was so droughty. Amazing how forgiving the country is and how quickly it can respond to a bit of decent rain. Even the cattle are responding well and putting on weight. It is a welcome relief!!! I hope you are also getting a good start to… Continue

I realise the forum has been very quiet. I have held back in my entries as I received some constructive criticism stating that the forum was very much looking like the Steve Dummett forum. I agreed… Continue
