Lachlan James replied to Steve Dummett's discussion Showing Cattle - What is the ROI
"Everything that is done with the farm business should have a consideration regarding return on investment. Showing is no different. We always find it difficult to justify it with stud cattle, but the numbers come out better with steers/carcases.…"

Lachlan James commented on Sam Owen's blog post Young $ire Search
"Would question the use of an inbreeding herd as a case for identifying any recessive diseases. Two reasons, the idea of test programs is to identify elite young <3yr old sires, thus to implement an inbreeding herd would require daughters etc…"

Lachlan James replied to Rod Hoare & Helena Warren's discussion Beef Information Nucleus Project
"Rod, Could not agree more about the uptake of using the identified sires. Obviously the breed does not get ahead if only a few choose to use the identified sires. The structure of the program and the availability of the sires is very important in…"
